Why Beacon Point Is an Operating Company, Not a Patent Shelf
When people hear the phrase holding company in the software industry, they usually picture one of two models. The first is a financial buyer that acquires mature products, trims engineering work, and collects recurring maintenance fees. The second is a passive entity that files or acquires broad claims, builds nothing, and waits on the sidelines while others ship working products. Beacon Point Holdings LLC is neither.
Formed in Delaware on September 8, 2026, Beacon Point is an operating company. We build and run our software brands as wholly-owned divisions, develop the shared technology behind them, and hold our intellectual property inside the same company that writes the code and serves the user.
Architecture Degrades Without Daily Operation
Software concepts look clean on a diagram. In a specification document, an automated workflow never encounters a messy file upload, an ambiguous court rule, or a confusing user prompt. Real software architecture is tested only when people use the product to do actual work.
When an organization separates the ownership of intellectual property from the daily responsibility of running software in production, its technical judgment weakens. Engineers who do not support live users end up designing abstract frameworks for problems nobody actually faces. By contrast, teams that operate live software learn quickly which safeguards are essential and which features are distractions.
Across our portfolio, operating our own divisions forces practical discipline. Building Telioro (opens in new tab) for law firms means working through cited court-day deadlines, medical chronologies, document redaction, demands, trial prep, and IOLTA trust accounting rules. Running East13 (opens in new tab) means posting published prices for small business SEO, Google Business Profile work, and AI-search tracking, and offering a useful free plan. Operating Rivii (opens in new tab) means ensuring an AI homework coach gives a child the questions to ask instead of handing over the finished answer.
Why We Hold What We Build
Much of the software industry is organized around short ownership horizons. Many teams build products solely to package the business for a quick sale within a few years. That short timeline shapes how software gets written. Short-term builders cut corners on data hygiene, hide pricing behind opaque sales calls, and ship black-box automation before its failure modes are understood.
Because Beacon Point builds divisions to hold and operate them directly, our incentives are straightforward. We care about whether a codebase is still clean and maintainable years after its initial launch. We care about whether a customer trusts how our software handles sensitive records or spending limits.
- Direct accountability: Every brand is a wholly-owned division of Beacon Point Holdings LLC, led by Raj Karnani as Sole Member and Manager. Product decisions stay close to the engineering work.
- Shared technical foundation: When we develop Cortex, our shared decision-intelligence engine, or ElasticSpot, our AI organization-builder, that engineering effort goes directly into our own brands rather than sitting idle on a shelf.
- Plain dealing with users: Where a brand sells software or services, we publish pricing openly. Where a tool uses AI, it shows its work and waits for a human yes before sending a message or spending money.
Intellectual Property Belongs in Working Code
Holding intellectual property is a normal part of running a serious technology business. Beacon Point holds the intellectual property behind its brands and shared engines. However, ownership of intellectual property is the result of building real systems, not a substitute for operating them.
A holding company earns its keep by making its divisions stronger together than they would be on their own. For Beacon Point, that means writing dependable software, enforcing strict verification and privacy defaults across every product, and running each brand as a real operating business every day.
